Lakes and mountains

A full-day experience from Lake Maggiore to the Alto Vergante

This full-day tour is designed for travelers who wish to experience different layers of northern Piedmont in a well-balanced day, moving from iconic landmarks to quieter authentic places rarely reached by mass tourism.

We begin in Stresa, where we board a shared motorboat to reach Isola Bella. Here, we visit the elegant Palazzo Borromeo, exploring its richly decorated interiors and lakeside gardens, and gaining insight into one of the most emblematic cultural sites of the region. After returning to the mainland, we travel by private vehicle along Lake Maggiore’s shores towards Lake Mergozzo and Mergozzo, a remarkably preserved village known for its medieval stone houses and intimate lakeside setting. Walking through its historic center, we introduce the area’s long tradition of stone craftsmanship, shaped by generations of local stonemasons whose work reached far beyond the region.

From here, the journey continues into the Alto Vergante, a lesser-known hill district overlooking Lake Maggiore. Surrounded by forests and open landscapes, this area offers wide panoramic views and a strong sense of local life, far from the usual tourist routes. The day concludes with a relaxed moment at a traditional trattoria, where we enjoy a typical local merenda, while taking in sweeping views over the lake and surrounding mountains. A simple and genuine way to experience the territory before returning to Stresa by car.

Lasting approximately eight hours, this experience is designed for small groups, with a minimum of two and a maximum of six participants. For larger groups or families travelling with children under six, please contact us for further details and tailored arrangements.
