A Bit About Me
Hi everyone! I am Chiara Martinetti. I was born and bred in the area of Lake Garda, more specifically in Desenzano del Garda, a gorgeous town located on southern region of Lake Garda.
My roots on my father’s side can be traced back to the Alto Vergante district, a green valley above Lake Maggiore, on the slopes of Mount Mottarone, in the northern part of Piedmont.
After spending 20 years living abroad in Germany and Sweden, it was a return to Rome and the experience of the pandemic which brought about an exciting change for me. I returned to sharing my time between Alto Vergante and Lake Garda. It was out of this return to basics, a return to the parts of Italy that I love that really brought Umbrella Tours to life.
I believe that in a way my tours represent pieces of my story, my life and of the person I am today.
I love history not only the notable characters that made it into the history books but also those who are a little bit more unknown. I love to learn languages, traditions and habits of other cultures and teach others about mine. Last but not least, I love to eat and drink well, and I really enjoy introducing people to our traditional local products. When I need a break, I find my comfort in being in nature. Of course, our vegetable garden in Alto Vergante is the place that makes me the happiest.
