Palaces, gardens and island life on Lake Maggiore

Set on the calm waters of Lake Maggiore, the Borromean Islands are among the most elegant destinations in Northern Italy. 

This private tour offers a relaxed way to explore the archipelago, discovering the unique character of Isola Bella, Isola dei Pescatori and Isola Madre.

 

We depart from Stresa by boat and begin our visit on Isola Bella, where we explore the 17th-century Palazzo Borromeo and stroll through its remarkable Baroque gardens, a striking combination of terraces, sculptures and views over the lake. 

 

The journey continues to Isola dei Pescatori, the only permanently inhabited island of the archipelago. Here there is time to wander through its narrow lanes, enjoy the lakeside atmosphere and pause for a relaxed lunch.

 

In the afternoon we reach Isola Madre, the largest and most verdant of the islands. Its romantic botanical garden is home to rare plants and exotic species, while the palace offers a glimpse into the private life of the Borromeo family.

 

The tour concludes with a boat ride back to Stresa, after approximately six hours of exploration at an unhurried pace. The order of the island visits may vary depending on logistics and availability.

  • the guide fee for our service is paid on the day of the tour, either in cash or by credit/debit card. A regular invoice will be issued for all payments

  • our guide fee is not subject to a cancellation policy

  • any additional services required for the experience - such as boat tickets, transport, museum entrance fees or other third-party arrangements - are paid directly to the resperctive providers. These payments are handled separately and are subject to the providers' own booking and cancellation policies
