Mergozzo Blue Path Private Trek

Historic trails, woodland paths and lake views

This easy guided trekking is designed for travelers who wish to explore nature with context and meaning, combining a gentle walk with a deeper understanding of the landscape and its history.

We begin in Mergozzo, a charming lakeside village on Lake Mergozzo, known for its ancient stone houses and intimate atmosphere. After a short introduction to its historic center, we enjoy a small tasting of a local specialty, the traditional Fugaschina, before setting off along the Blue Path.

Following the trail between lake and mountain, we explore a landscape shaped by both nature and human activity. For centuries, this area was an important site for the extraction of green granite, a stone later used in iconic landmarks such as Milan’s Duomo.

Walking through forests and historic paths, we reach Montorfano, a remarkably preserved village where time seems to slow down. Here we visit one of the most important Romanesque churches of the Ossola valley, surrounded by medieval stone houses and open panoramic views.

After a relaxed break overlooking the landscape, we return to Mergozzo along the same path, now offering wide views over the peaks of the Val d’Ossola, closing the loop with a different perspective on the same scenery.
